Tips & Tricks: Completing the PD Draft
Complete the PD Builder details
- USA Class prepopulates the Job Series and Grade fields in PD Builder based on what was selected to develop the factors in the Factor Levels workflow. Review both fields before exporting the draft.
- Use Other Significant Facts for pertinent position information that does not fit naturally in the major duties or factor descriptions, such as applicable conditions of employment.
- If agency procedures permit, the classifier can record the FLSA status determination and its basis in this section after making that determination. Follow any agency requirement for a separate OF-8, cover sheet, or other documentation.
Review the assembled draft
- At Final Review, read the major duties, factor descriptions, levels, point totals, introduction, and Other Significant Facts together. Check for omissions or statements that no longer fit the assigned work.
- Use Edit at Final Review to make final wording changes. Before exporting, check that the revised descriptions remain consistent with the credited levels, point totals, and grade.
A complete draft is not a classified PD
- USA Class produces a complete PD draft ready for classification evaluation. It does not classify the position or produce a classified PD.
- This remains true when a classifier selects factor and subfactor levels and edits the suggested descriptions. The classifier must still evaluate and justify the official series, title, and grade under the applicable standards and agency procedures.
