UPDATES & PLANNED DEVELOPMENTS
Summary of Production Release Notes – Release 1.0.13 | July 2026
This release is a small maintenance update that improves Major Duties generation when using an existing PD as a reference and fixes several minor issues in PD Builder, Factor Levels, and user administration.
- Major Duties – Improved Generation from Existing PDs: When an existing PD is used as a reference, the AI-generated Major Duties now adhere more closely to the language, structure, and emphasis of the source PD, rather than defaulting to generalized terminology.
- PD Builder – Introduction Content Preserved on Preview & Export: Fixed an issue where Introduction content after the first paragraph — including custom text and the Full Performance Level / Developmental statement — was dropped when advancing to the Preview & Export page. All paragraphs now render correctly.
- 2210 Series: Factor 4 slider values have been updated to align with the new 2026 competency-based classification standard.
- Simulated User Settings: Administrators can no longer edit the display name of simulated users from the user interface.
Future Features Under Development
We’re working on additional functionality for a variety of PD types to make USA Class a more robust tool for managers and classifiers alike.
Future features under development include:
- Supervisory PDs (GS Supervisory Guide)
- GS Leader PDs (GS Leader Grade Evaluation Guide)
Additional PD types under consideration include:
- Interdisciplinary professional PDs
- Federal Wage System coverage
- SES/SL/ST
- 6-factor PDs
- Acq/Demo
- Pay-banding
Tool Tip
Consider using USA Class’s major duties workflow, even if your factor level pattern hasn’t yet been developed. This can expedite the PD writing process and help you develop accurate duty statements.
IMPLEMENTATION: SINGLE OR MULTIPLE OFFICES?
1. System Visibility & Permissions
Users in the Manager and Classifier roles can see only those requests they initiated or have been assigned, whereas Leads and Admins can see all requests within an office.
Admins, classifiers, and other users need to be invited to and approved for each office in which they will work.
Users assigned to multiple offices can only see one office at a time, but they can toggle through each office to work in the system.
2. Classifier Roles
Classifiers can be assigned to either the Classifier or Lead Classifier role.
If you set up multiple offices, this can be customized for each office assignment based on your needs.
Consider which role, or combination of roles, will provide the best balance of:
- workload management
- visibility vs. separation of classifier assignments
- organizational structures
- classifier collaboration
- working classification requests during absences
3. Additional Considerations
USA Class does not include a built-in keyword search (i.e., major duties and factors). Searches are currently limited to the request dashboard data fields, such as request name.
Initial USA Class office structures mirror your agency's structure within USA Staffing. As your agency's needs evolve, USA Class can be customized to support your unique classification and operational processes.
System notifications have not yet been implemented. Users should regularly check USA Class for new requests and notify your classification office when submitting a request to ensure timely actions and to prevent requests from being overlooked.
4. Requesting Additional Offices
If you would like to request additional USA Class offices for your agency, please email us at USAClass@opm.gov. Provide the name of your new office and the name and email address of the initial POC/Admin for the new office.
If you would like dedicated support from one of OPM’s Classification Strategy and Operations (CSO) representatives to guide you through the use and implementation of USA Class — from either a Classification Program or Manager perspective — we’re here to help. Simply email us at USAClass@opm.gov to be connected.
